The French Economy Transformation Plan as a compass for the transition

The French Economy Transformation Plan (PTEF) is fully rooted in a forward-looking approach. It puts forward pragmatic proposals, charting a realistic and coherent path toward decarbonization within a broader long-term transformation. It does not rely on the uncertain bet of economic growth, nor on technological developments that are assumed to emerge but have not yet been proven. To remain consistent with the laws of physics and technology, the PTEF takes into account the interconnections between sectors — particularly regarding physical resources and skills — with employment at the heart of the framework

Comprendre2050, a website to decipher the challenges of the transition

The result of a collaboration between The Shift Project (initiator and coordinator), ADEME, and the négaWatt Association, this joint effort of analysis is based on a rich set of scenarios and transition strategies to 2050: Transition(s) 2050 by ADEME, Futurs énergétiques 2050 by RTE, the négaWatt 2022 scenario, the Plan de transformation de l’économie française by The Shift Project, and the National Low-Carbon Strategy 2. In total, more than 5,000 pages of publications have been synthesized.

These analyses reflect a diversity of perspectives on the low-carbon transition and highlight their advantages and drawbacks, shedding light on the major societal choices ahead of us.
